Could someone outline the process of budding in yeast? Does it involve mitosis?

yeast are complicated. during their life cycle they can do both mitosis and meiosis, depending upon conditions. the buds are actually produced by mitosis - even if the yeast is currently in its haploid phase. one haploid can join with another haploid to make a diploid and the diploid can undergo mitosis to form a bud or meiosis to make two haploids!
