In Japanese terms, is it possible to use tan after someones' name?

For example, I don't know if you've ever heard of the anime Bleach, but there's a character in it named Ichigo and that means strawberry in Japanese...so, I've heard people call him berry-tan. Was it a typo and should actually be berry-san? Or can you actually say 'tan?' And if you can, can you please tell me what it means after a name. Like, what's it addressing? Thank you.
