Right Side vs. Wrong Side Crochet Help?

I am making a simple octagon and square afghan. a href="http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/90238AD.html" rel="nofollow"http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/90238A…/a I was almost more than halfway done, when I realized I have been sewing the motifs together incorrectly, making the "wrong side" the "right side." (When I sewed them together, the wrong sides were facing) I started making another one, when I decided to google it. I got a few sites saying you can basically pick which side you prefer... My boyfriend really prefers the "wrong side", but the idea that it is wrong is just driving me crazy. So...my question is, have you guys ever decided to use the wrong side as the right side? I do really like the way it looks, but I feel like my crochet conscious family will have a lot of negative things to say about it... Hmm... I hope this makes sense.
